The Ship Inn

The Ship is quite an impressive pub, standing on the corner of Queen Street and the Back Beach overlooking the Teign estuary. It is a long narrow pub which is very popular both to locals and holiday makers alike. As you enter the pub, the bar is immediately in front of you and there is seating to the left and right. The bar is made of stone with a hard wood top and ships portholes set into it at regular intervals.
The Ship is truly a ‘Real Ale Pub’, sporting beers like London Pride, Abbott and Timothy Taylor Landlord. The Otter Brewery is also well represented with at least two of their excellent beers always on tap. To find out which ale might take your fancy, visit the links in the bottom left of this page to read tasting notes for each beer.

The Beers

In the summer months you can sit outside and relax with a pint and watch the boats in the estuary and look across to the quaint village of Shaldon. Dogs are very welcome at The Ship and there is always a bowl of water somewhere around.
For those of you who like good food, The ship has an excellent restaurant upstairs. It is open evenings except Tuesday from 6:30 pm and Sunday lunch time. Food is available at lunch times throughout the week and can be ordered at the bar.
The Shipp Inn can be found on the back beach or on Queen Street, turn right off Northumberland Place.
